Green Street Baptist Church, Melrose, Massachusetts

Green Street Baptist Church, Melrose, Massachusetts Pillars & Foundations documents an exploration of communities, as well as faith through religious institutions. My intent is to share experiences, and spread the positivity that I observe. The hope is to provide a window into these organizations allowing those who might not other wise venture in to appreciate these thoughtful, often intimate groups in our midst. Faith centers embody a drive to make a difference which they deliver upon, regardless if it is with one person looking for hope & community, or a recipient of their expansive charitable work. Building & History There isn't much information about church history available on the website other than the founding being in 1903. The date on the bell tower appears to say 1884 suggesting that perhaps portions of the church predate the Green Street Baptist organization. Another addition, of which there seems to be several, has the date 1958 on a cornerstone.

This Post will be a bit atypical compared to other posts I've written. First Unitarian Church of Stoneham is no longer an active church, having closed its doors long ago in 1995. This is an example of a building that has lived on, repurposed to serve a new community need, and in its second life continues to serve Stoneham and the surroundi

Faith centers embody a drive to make a difference which they deliver upon, regardless if it is with one person looking for hope & community, or a recipient of their expansive charitable work. Building & History Good Shepherd has a great history resource on their website which describes how the church grew out of  Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Wakefield originally meeting in homes first as well as the Odd Fellow's building. Eventually in 1925 the existing structure was built, and an additional hall was built in 1950. The front of the churc

Faith centers embody a drive to make a difference which they deliver upon, regardless if it is with one person looking for hope & community, or a recipient of their expansive charitable work. Building & History Saint Margaret is a small church structure with a cozy, yet brightly painted sanctuary with pastel windows placed in three-panel frames that are not unlike living room windows in many suburban homes. The pews are painted in a fashion similar to that often seen in many protestant churches of the area with the main expanses off-white, but the trim varnished or a darke

Building & History This church certainly has an Anglican, medieval air about it, and it certainly is small, and yet it feels sort of grand when you are sitting in the pews between the massive columns holding up the nave. The parish dates back to 1861 and the current church had its cornerstone laid in 1913 . I'm thankful to St. Paul's website for providin
